I just completed a Facebook Challenge to post a image of nature each day for seven days – and to nominate a new person to post each day. It was fun, invigorating and I loved seeing the images from all the other participants. In fact the challenge is still going on and the images keep coming. These are the seven images I posted.

Butterfly House …

It is always fun to visit a butterfly house with my long lens. Last week, during the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival, the butterfly tent was packed with people. Butterfly, not so much. It may have been that it was only the second day of the Festival, and many of the butterflies had not emerged yet. The butterflies I did see were gathering nectar from the flowers

A national forest of a different kind …

It has been a while since I posted — in fact science we crossed the Mississippi over two weeks ago. Since then most of my photos have been of our granddaughters (and I will be posting a few). Today I spent the afternoon at Saguaro National Park East, one of my favorite spots in the southwest. I was there mid afternoon — not the best light, but I did take a lot of shots with my DSLR which I have to process. I used my…Continue Reading “A national forest of a different kind …”

Little friend…

This little fellow was hanging out by the water connection by our RV. The iPhone did artery good job of taking his (or her) photo. I really enjoy using my iPhone as a camera — and it is amazing how good the photos are. iPhone image edited on the iPad

Weeds…

Our first day of enjoying one of the local trails in our area of Florida — on our roller blades. These plants were growing on the side of the trail, and I loved the way they looked. The photos were taken with my Panasonic point & shoot, and processed on my iPad.

What is that under the tree?

Driving on the eastern shore of Virginia, on our way to New Bern, North Carolina, we stopped at the rest stop just before crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. I spotted what looked like ping-pong balls on the ground under a tree – and were actually a type of mushroom. iPhone image edited on the iPad

Butterfly House…

Taking photos of butterflies inside prepared enclosures may be cheating, as far as nature photography goes, but it is such fun to have access to so many butterflies at one time. A Butterfly House is set up every year during the Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT. The Festival typically lasts from late February to early May, and last year the weather was very cold, and the butterflies were barely moving. This year it had to be almost 100° in the enclosure, and there were…Continue Reading “Butterfly House…”

A few more iPhone photos…

…both edited in Photoshop Touch. The first is a butterfly taken in the Butterfly House in EPCOT at Disney World, which is up for the duration of the Flower and Garden Festival. I didn’t have my Nikon with me when we visited, and want to get back with the DSLR. The second is a photo of our grandniece. I love to capture kids when they are not posing — the facial expressions are so much better than when they look at the camera with a…Continue Reading “A few more iPhone photos…”

Time for a New Look

I haven’t figured out a way to add the slideshow back into my blog, I guess because I cannot figure out why the feature disappeared in the first place! Anyway, I think it is time I devote some effort into redoing the blog. Whether it will mean a total revamp, or just fix what is broken, I am not sure…just have to see where this takes me. I’ll let you know when the blog is back online . Thus far I’ve posted a new photo…Continue Reading “Time for a New Look”
