I took a break from posting just like this little fellow is taking a break by napping on my bicycle tire.
April 18 – Burros roaming free — or at least appearing free. They were behind a barbed wire fence, which you see everywhere out here.
Another animal portrait from the San Diego Zoo. This one isn’t as pretty, but not as dangerous either.
We spent four days in San Diego, so of course we visited the San Diego Zoo. I just downloaded my DSLR photos to the iPad for sorting, and a few jumped out at me, including this one. This leopard is a critically endangered species whose home habitat is southwestern Russia. So beautiful. I just wish the two cats at the zoo had a bigger space — more than just the large cage they live in.
Cute little fellow – although I suppose he could be a she! Another photo taken with my Nikon DSLR, uploaded to the iPad, and edited in Photoshop Touch.
On this first day if 2013 I took a bike ride down Johnston Road to take photos of the Longhorn cows with my DSLR. Cattle were grazing under a tree, a good distance from the roadside fence. Using my 70–300mm zoom lens I was able to get pretty decent pictures. Because of the differences between 35mm film and the digital sensors on a DSLR, a 300mm lens give the equivalent of using (approximately) a 450mm. The series of photos is going to be transferred to…Continue Reading “Longhorn…”
Driving through the western states I never saw a cow with horns as long as these — and to think it lives just down the road from us in Florida! iPhone image edited on the iPad FYI – I just got a new iPhone 5 – an early Christmas gift – and this is the first posted photo taken with its camera. The camera on the iPhone 5 features an 8 megapixel sensor, which Is the same size as on the iPhone 4s, but an…Continue Reading “Longhorn in Florida…”
Two fun photos today from a bicycle ride around Shark Valley Loop in the Everglades National Park. Wildlife abounds in the park, but we were really surprised to see several alligators sunning on the side of the trail not 100 yards from the beginning of the ride. I stopped to take a picture, and upon closer inspection it was obvious that the gator was not real. We saw a real alligators on our ride, so it is hard to understand why the park service would…Continue Reading “Would you believe fake alligators?”
This little fellow was hanging out by the water connection by our RV. The iPhone did artery good job of taking his (or her) photo. I really enjoy using my iPhone as a camera — and it is amazing how good the photos are. iPhone image edited on the iPad
