For several years I have been photographing statue type figures that I find appealing. I usually come across the statues in gardens, and I have been planning to do something with them, but have yet to get around to it. I was thinking that if, over the next week or so, I post some of the photos, it might get me motivated to make a handmade book of the entire series.
This first photo was taken during a tour of private gardens on Long Island in 2010. What drew me to this photo was the way the sunlight played off both the statue and the grass. It make me want to believe that there is a tiny, magical fairy world hiding in the grass.
