While I was in Hawaii in April, with only my iPad to work with, Adobe introduced Lightroom Mobile. I immediately installed it on my iPad Air, but I really couldn’t use it until I arrived home and could link it to Lightroom on my Mac. Lightroom Mobile is designed to work in tandem with Lightroom, providing the opportunity for editing on-to-go. I’ll have more to say about the app once I have a chance to learn more about it. For now, I did a simple edit of a raw file. The photo was taken in macro mode with my point & shoot Panasonic (which sports a Leica lens).
Below are the three versions of the photo — the first as captured, the second edited in Lightroom Mobile, and the third with additional lighting changes in Lightroom on the Mac. Any changes to images are automatically synced between Lightroom and Lightroom Mobile via Adobe’s Creative Cloud. The reason for the final edit on the Mac is that in Lightroom Mobile exposure changes can only be made to the entire image, Lightroom itself allows for spot editing.
One might ask “Why bother?” with Lightroom Mobile if you might need to make improvements in Lightroom anyway. The answer is that with Lightroom Mobile you can work on-the-go, something that can come in very handy, especially when traveling with a tablet a the sole computer.
