We’ve been visiting Sierra Vista, Arizona, on and off since 2004 when my step-son, Brian, attended Advanced Individual Training at the U.S. Army’s Intelligence Center, located at Fort Huachuca (he is currently an instructor at the NCO Academy at Fort Huachuca). A constant in the sky above Sierra Vista is an what we affectionately call “Eye in the Sky.” In reality, it is a border surveillance blimp, designed to monitor drug trafficking on the US/Mexican border. Yesterday I captured this photo of the blimp high in the sky over base housing. The blimp can be tethered as high as 25,000 feet, and in reality is larger than the Goodyear Blimp. The closeup photo of the blimp was captured from the internet to give you an idea of how big it really is.
